Death Anniversary of actor Muhammad Ali commemorated

The 18th death anniversary of legendary Pakistani actor Muhammad Ali was observed on Tuesday . Mohammad Ali was born on 19th April 1931 at Rampur in India. He joined Radio Pakistan Hyderabad station as a broadcaster in 1956. Later, he moved to Radio Pakistan Karachi where its then Director General Zulfiqar Ali Bukhari became his mentor for his acting career. He started his film career in 1962. PM calls for ensuring early implementation of Pak-Kuwait bilateral agreements

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized concerted efforts by Pakistan and Kuwait to ensure early implementation of their bilateral agreements in different fields. He was talking to Kuwaiti Ambassador Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi who paid a courtesy call on him in Islamabad today. The Prime Minister said seven agreements worth ten billon dollars were signed between the two countries in November last for collaboration in food security, water supply, hydel power, mangrove rehabilitation, technology and mines and minerals sectors. He emphasized the role of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) that provides a robust and efficient mechanism to attract foreign investment into Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan attaches great importance to its historic and deep-rooted ties with Kuwait and is desirous of further strengthening the same with a focus on trade and investment. Thanking the Kuwaiti leadership for the warm wishes and felicitations on his re-election, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to visit Pakistan. The Kuwaiti Ambassador thanked Pakistan for its support to Kuwait in difficult times and reaffirmed his country's strong commitment to build closer ties with Pakistan. Senate Polls: Nomination papers’ scrutiny concludes today

Scrutiny of nomination papers filed for forty-eight vacant seats of the Senate is underway and will conclude today. Revised list of candidates will be issued on the 26th of this month while candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 27th of this month. Polling will be held on the 2nd of next month. In the federal capital, members of the National Assembly will elect members of the Senate against one general seat and one seat for technocrats, including Ulema. Members of the four provincial assemblies will elect senators for seven general seats, two women seats, and two seats for technocrats, including Ulema from each province, as well as one seat for non-Muslims from both Punjab and Sindh provinces. Meanwhile, Election Commission of Pakistan has constituted five appellate tribunals to address appeals regarding the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers submitted by candidates for the vacant Senate seats.
