Death anniversary of renowned film director Masood Pervez observed

23rd death anniversary of renowned film director Masood Pervez was observed today. Masood Parvez was born in Amritsar, British India in 1918. After partition, he migrated to Pakistan and settled in Lahore. Beli was his directorial debut. He directed and produced Urdu and Punjabi films, including Heer Ranjha, Zehr e Ishq, Koil and Khak aur Khoon. He was bestowed upon Nigar Award twice. He died on this day in Lahore in 2001. Punjab Govt starts project to preserve environment, forests

Punjab Government has started the first major project in history of country to preserve environment, wildlife and forests. In this connection, meeting has been held in Lahore under the chairmanship of Senior Minister of Punjab Marriyum Aurangzeb. The meeting granted approval for the first-ever zoological survey in Punjab to get complete data on different species. The meeting also decided to establish Punjab's first digital wildlife archives and also approved establishment of the first Wildlife Protection Force. Punjab CM directs to monitor distribution of Ramadan Nigehban Package hampers

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed to strictly monitor the distribution of Ramadan Nigehban Package hampers to deserving people at their doorsteps. She was talking during the visit of a model Provincial Ramadan Bazaar Control Room in Lahore today. She said that a District Scoreboard will also be set up about the implementation of the Ramadan Package. ECP appoints ROs for conduct of Senate elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed returning officers in the Islamabad Capital Territory and four provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan for the conduct of senate elections. According to a notification issued by the Election Commission today, ECP Director General Training Saeed Gul will be the Returning Officer in the federal capital, whereas provincial election commissioners Aijaz Anwar Chohan, Sharifullah, Shamshad Khan, and Muhammad Farid Afridi will be returning officers in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan respectively. Members of the National Assembly will elect one general seat and one seat for technocrats, including Ulema from the federal capital. The Election Commission of Pakistan also called upon members of the provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to elect members against seven general seats, two women seats and two seats for technocrats, including Ulema from each province and one seat for non-Muslims e ach from Punjab and Sindh which are going to be vacant after expiration of term of incumbent senators tomorrow. Pak Army organizes free medical camp in Chitianwala near Lahore

A free medical camp was organized by the Pakistan Army for the residents of Chitianwala and its neighboring villages on the outskirts of Lahore. Several doctors and paramedical are examining and treating hundreds of people in the medical camp. More than 1500 patients will benefit from the free medical camp. International Day of Women Judges being celebrated today

International Day of Women Judges is being celebrated across the world including Pakistan on Sunday to recognize the contribution of women jurists worldwide. It aims to incorporate women's representation issues into judicial systems. The theme of this year's day "Empathy and Action: Women and girls in carceral settings." In April 26 2021, the United Nations General Assembly declared the day by a resolution adopted by consensus. The day was observed globally for the first time on March 10, 2022. Source: Radio Pakistan
