National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) ends its operation today after Covid indicators touches all-time lows.

This was stated by Minister for Planning and Chairman NCOC Asad Umar in a tweet on Thursday.

He said with Allah's mercy and support of the entire nation, we have been able to overcome this unprecedented challenge of COVID-19. He said matters pertaining to Covid-19 will now be looked after by the health ministry.

The Minister said Pakistan received praise for its COVID-19 response as one of the most successful in the world.

PNS HAIBAT will strengthen Pakistan Navy’s capabilities: CNS

Commissioning Ceremony of Pakistan Navy's indigenously designed and constructed Fast Attack Craft Missile PNS HAIBAT and induction ceremony of third 16 Ton Bollard Pull Tug PNT GOGA was held at Karachi.

According to ISPR, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

PNS HAIBAT is the first land mark project indigenously designed by Maritime Technologies Complex and constructed by Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works without any foreign technical assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest underlined that commissioning of PNS HAIBAT ushers a new chapter in the indigenous design and construction that has been further matured with time.

The Chief of Naval Staff emphasized that in context of overall security paradigm of the region, PNS HAIBAT will strengthen Pakistan Navy's capabilities to respond maritime challenges to ensure seaward defence and maintain peace and stability in Indian Ocean Region.

Chief of the Naval Staff commended the concerted efforts put in by KSEW, MTC and Pakistan Navy for the land mark achievement.

Earlier Managing Director KS&EW, Rear Admiral Athar Saleem underscored that Missile Craft PNS HAIBAT being a multi mission capable platform will bolster Pakistan Navy's maritime defence capabilities.

He added that induction of PNT GOGA is also a milestone which will strengthen the indigenous ship construction capabilities.

The ceremony was attended by foreign dignitaries, officials from federal and provincial governments Pakistan Navy and KS&EW.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) for a professional and nationally coordinated response to COVID-19 pandemic.

In a tweet on Thursday, he said our Covid response was recognized by the international agencies and people in the field as one of the most successful globally.

Moody’s concerned over no-confidence motion, says it increases pressure on economy

Credit rating agency "The Moody's" has raised concerns over No Confidence Motion tabled by the opposition parties in Pakistan against Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that it would put significant pressure on the country's economy.

In a statement, the agency said that the no-confidence motion is being viewed as credit negative because it raises significant uncertainty over policy continuity.

Moody's said that the proposed no confidence motion also undermines the government's ability to continue to implement reforms to increase productivity growth and secure external financing, including from the International Monetary Fund.

Neighboring countries to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan

The neighboring countries of Afghanistan have expressed readiness to provide further humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

According to the joint statement issued after Foreign Ministers' Meeting among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan at Tunxi, Anhui Province in China on Thursday, the countries expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation, economic and livelihood plight in Afghanistan.

Foreign Ministers or senior representatives of seven countries, namely China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, attended the meeting.

The participating parties called on the international community in particular the UN agencies and relevant members of the UN Security Council to step up emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

They expressed readiness to help Afghanistan enhance capacity in health care and COVID-19 containment.

The joint statement urged the countries mainly responsible for the current predicament in Afghanistan to earnestly fulfill commitments on the economic recovery and future development of Afghanistan.

It stressed that a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan serves the common interests of regional countries and Afghanistan, and expressed readiness to jointly play a constructive role to this end.

They reaffirmed commitment to include Afghanistan in the regional connectivity, energy and transport networks, economic and trade systems, in order to help it unleash its geographical advantages and economic potential.

The parties noted commitments and pledges made by Afghanistan to the international community that the territory of Afghanistan will not pose any threats to the neighboring countries and no place will be given to terrorist groups on the Afghan territory.

They condemned all forms of violence and terrorist attacks, and reiterated that ISIS, Al-Qaeda, ETIM, TTP, BLA, Jondollah, Jaish-Al-Adl, Jamaat Ansarullah, IMU and other terrorist organizations must not be given any place on the Afghan territory.

They reaffirmed readiness to strengthen counter-terrorism and security cooperation among neighboring countries and build a united front against terrorism.

Pakistan successfully tackled COVID-19 pandemic: Asad

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said Pakistan successfully tackled the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of whole of the nation approach.

Briefing media persons in Islamabad on Thursday on the occasion of the closure of the National Command and Operation Center, he said all the institutions and different segments of the society including the religious scholars played a pivotal role in the fight against the pandemic.

He said our response to the pandemic was also acknowledged by the international organizations.
