Pakistan condemns launch of ballistic missile by Houthis towards Jazan

Pakistan has strongly condemned the launch of ballistic missile by Houthis towards Jazan that had been aimed against civilian infrastructure and economic installations.

The Foreign Office, in a statement on Sunday, said that the successful interception of the ballistic missile by the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces prevented loss of innocent lives and is commendable.

It said that such attacks not only violate international law but also threaten peace and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region.

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan calls for immediate cessation of these attacks.

It reaffirmed Pakistan's full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia against any threat to its security and territorial integrity.

Dissident PTI members asked to clarify position within seven days: Fawad

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain says notices have been issued to dissident PTI members and they have been asked to clarify their position within seven days.

In a tweet on Sunday, he said after one week, the seats of all these members will be declared vacant and they will be disqualified for life.

The Minister said new members are being nominated for the reserved seats.

Pakistan upgrades seven points at world happiness index: Tarin

Finance Minister Shaukat Fayyaz Tarin says Pakistan has upgraded seven points at world happiness index that shows improved economic conditions of the country.

Addressing media in Islamabad on Sunday, he said factors counted in the index shows Pakistan has performed better in GDP, life expectancy level, generosity, social protection programs and perception of corruption.

The Minister said due to several economic measures of PTI government, our current account deficit has reduced to just 545 million dollars that was more than 20 billion dollars before we came into power.

He said our imports are decreasing while exports including services exports have increased manifold.

He said large scale manufacturing has witnessed 8.2 percent growth that indicates increasing growth rate.

The Finance Minister expressed hope that the overall growth rate of the country will be five plus at the end of current fiscal year.

Chairman BOI leaves for Uzbekistan to participate in investment forum

Minister of State and Chairman Board of Investment Muhammad Azfar Ahsan has left for Uzbekistan to participate in several high level trilateral meetings and represent Pakistan at the forums.

In a press release issued by BOI, the chairman will also meet President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of these meetings and will interact with potential investors from many countries as head of delegation from Pakistan for B2B meetings.

Azfar Ahsan will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural session "Tashkent International Investment Forum" which will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on March 24-26, 2022.

The Forum will be convened under the theme "Realizing New Growth Agenda.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will deliver his opening speech at the event.
