Govt’s timely actions to contain current account deficit bearing fruit: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government's timely actions to contain current account deficit are bearing fruit.

In a tweet today (Saturday), he said the deficit shrank to only 0.5 billion dollars in February which is two billion dollars lower than January and the lowest monthly deficit so far this fiscal year.

Imran Khan said our exports are close to all time high and imports are down twenty-one percent. He said a strong growth is being witnessed in large scale manufacturing.

Opposition parties always give priority to their personal interests: Farrukh

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib has said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is giving irresponsible statements over the matter of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)'s Foreign Ministers Conference.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the dates regarding holding of OIC Foreign Ministers conference were finalized four months ago.

The Minister of State said after 15 years the OIC Foreign Ministers session is going to be held in Pakistan but the opposition is politicking on the matter.

Farrukh Habib said the current opposition parties have always given priority to their personal interests over the national interest.

PM performs groundbreaking of Rawalpindi Ring Road project

Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking of Rawalpindi Ring Road project today [Saturday].

The 38.3 kilometers long road will comprise of six lanes and interchange will also be constructed on it.

Rawalpindi Ring Road project will help ease traffic flow in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The project will also provide job opportunities and promote economic activities.

Flawless administrative, security arrangements made for 48th meeting of OIC Council of FMs

Flawless administrative and security arrangements have been made for the two-day 48th Session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad, beginning from Tuesday.

This was stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar while speaking at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad.

He said theme of the Session – “Partnering for Unity, Justice, and Development” – represents our commitment to foster unity within the Ummah, advance the cause of justice for all Muslims, and promote prosperity and sustainable development for OIC Member States.

The Spokesperson said Prime Minister Imran Khan will make keynote address at the Inaugural Session.

He said Pakistan will seek to build partnerships and bridges of cooperation across the Islamic world to promote collective interests of the Ummah and to address the myriad of challenges confronting Muslims.
