Polio eradication remains Govt’s topmost health priority: Patel

Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Abdul Qadir Patel says eradication of polio from Pakistan is government's priority and we are committed to facilitate polio-workers to achieve this goal.

Addressing a ceremony of Polio Workers in Islamabad on Monday, he said several targeted and general anti-polio campaigns were launched recently. He expressed the hope that the nation will see the positive impact of these polio eradication campaigns.

Commending sacrifices of polio workers, Abdul Qadir Patel said these people are our heroes, who laid down their lives in the line of duty to make Pakistan a polio free country. He said a memorial wall will be built at an appropriate place in Islamabad to pay homage to the martyred polio workers.

Reconciliation, dialogue vital for progress of country: NA Speaker

Speaker National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf says it is time to adopt policies of harmony, reconciliation and dialogue for progress and prosperity of the country.

Talking to a UK and USA based Humanitarian group in Islamabad, he said Pakistan is facing challenges of terrorism, extremism and inflation and being public representatives, the onus of responsibility falls on politicians to lead the nation out of these quagmires.

The Speaker expressed his unwavering confidence on the capabilities of Pakistan armed forces to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country.

Talking about parliamentary performance, he said it was the first time in the history of Pakistan that the doors of parliament were opened for all, especially for downtrodden and marginalized segments of population like women, children, youth and transgender.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said the parliament has been at the forefront to fight the case of climate justice for Pakistan and it also remains active to legislate for the common people.

Minister for overseas Pakistani Sajid Hussain Turi, who was also present in the meeting, said addressing the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis is top priority of his ministry.

He said special courts would be established in the coming month to decide about property issues of overseas Pakistanis.

Federal Ombudsman directs to prepare effective mechanism to deal with citizens’ complaints

The Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has directed Sui Northern and Sui Southern Gas Companies to prepare effective mechanism to deal with citizens' complaints.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting to discuss work of gas companies and their administrative arrangements for addressing citizens’ complaints in Lahore on Monday.

During the meeting, proposals developed by the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat were discussed and decisions were taken to provide prompt relief to consumers.
