Charge de Affaires Embassy of Libya calls on Finance Minister

Charge de Affaires Embassy of Libya Omar B. A. Abdulkarim called on Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Both the sides highlighted deep rooted brotherly relations between the two countries.

They observed that Pakistan and Libya enjoy a sound friendly relationship over the years and it is getting stronger with each passing day.

The Charge de Affaires, in his remarks, shared that Libyan government is aiming at enhancing the bilateral ties especially between businessmen of the two countries.

The performance of Pak-Libya Holding Company was also discussed during the meeting and the Finance Minister commended the development of the company.

The Finance Minister extended his support for further strengthening of brotherly relations between the two countries.

Expanding country’s industrial base among govt’s top priorities: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan says government accords top priority to expanding Pakistan's industrial base as no country can progress without industrial development.

Speaking at a meeting with Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiyar in Islamabad today (Tuesday), he said the government is taking steps for the industrial capacity building and revival of sick units in the country.

The Prime Minister said the industrial sector is making progress due to business friendly policies of the government. He mentioned that industry is functioning with full capacity, which has increased job opportunities in the country.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed in detail about government's measures for country's industrial development and future strategy.

It was further informed that the Ministry of Industries and Production is ensuring provision of facilities for industries and removal of bottlenecks to increase country's industrial production in line with the Prime Minister's vision for the promotion of industries in Pakistan.

Imran Khan directed to prepare a comprehensive package in order to expedite measures to expand Pakistan's industrial base and increase mutual cooperation amongst the concerned government departments to achieve this objective.

Fawad emphasizes joint forum of executive, judiciary to sort out problems

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has stressed the need for a specific forum, where the executive and the judiciary can jointly discuss to find solutions to various problems.

He was talking to the media in the federal capital on Tuesday evening after attending a high-level meeting with Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah.

The Minister said a consultation was held with the Chief Justice and the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court regarding the pending cases. He said Chairman Federal Board of Revenue told the meeting that cases involving a collective amount of 233 billion rupees are pending before the Islamabad High Court. He, however, said that FBR lawyers not the court are the main reason behind the pendency of these cases.

Regarding the prevailing political situation in the country, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the government is fully prepared to face a no-confidence motion from the opposition, but it seems that the opposition is unable to table any such resolution in the parliament.

Uzbek President to visit Pakistan next month

Adviser on Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood says President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a visit to Pakistan on the second and third of the next month.

He was talking to the media along with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.

The Advisor on commerce said that Uzbek President will discuss ways with Pakistan leadership to improve bilateral economic and trade relations and also will sign various bilateral trade agreements.

On the occasion, the Uzbek Minister for the trade said that the flight from Lahore to Tashkent for air connectivity between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would start next month.
