Pakistan plans to use 40,000 MW nuclear energy by 2050: Amin Aslam

Pakistan plans to adapt to Zero-Carbon emission goal by 2050 in energy by using all types of renewable and low-carbon sources.

This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam while speaking at an International Webinar on “Nuclear energy: a key to Net Zero (Green Future)”, in Islamabad.

He said the government plans to use 40,000 megawatt nuclear energy by 2050 and also to make optimal use of wind, hydel, solar and nuclear resources to meet the goals set by Conference of the Parties-26 recently held in Glasgow.

Pakistan urges Int’l community for joint efforts to resolve Russia-Ukraine conflict

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated that Pakistan would not be part of any camp politics rather focus on its own interests.

Briefing media in Islamabad about Prime Minister Imran Khan's two-day visit to Russia, he said Pakistan believes that any military conflict impacts the whole region, particularly the developing countries.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan urged international community to make joint efforts for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict through diplomatic means.

He said prior to the Prime Minister's visit, a senior level contact was made by the United States wherein Pakistan explained the objective of the visit.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan has shifted its foreign policy from geopolitics to geo-economics and we have to move ahead for regional connectivity.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Huqooq March starts from Ghotki

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Huqooq March against Sindh government will start today (Saturday) from Ghotki.

A convoy of workers will leave Insaf House Sukkur to Ghotki which will be led by PTI Sindh President and Federal Ports and Shipping minister Ali Zaidi and General Secretary Mobin Jatoi after addressing a large gathering of workers in Sukkur.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Planning Minister Asad Umar are expected to reach Ghotki by this evening to participate in the march.

In this connection, the reception camps have been set up at various places in Ghotki district and preparations for the reception of the participants of the march were also completed in Sukkur.

The March will reach tomorrow towards Shikarpur, Kashmore and Jacobabad from Sukkur. March participants will be welcomed by local leaders in Shikarpur, Kashmore and Jacobabad.

President lauds role of women in progress of Pakistan

President Dr. Arif Alvi has lauded the role of women in the progress of Pakistan.

Addressing the ceremony of Women Leaders Awards in Islamabad, he said the role of women has increased in the modern era due to the facility of work from home.

The President said Islam has given full rights to the women and founder of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a strong believer of women's role in the progress of society.

Dr Arif Alvi also paid tributes to the Indian girl Muskan Khan for standing up valiantly against RSS goons.

Protecting common man from effects of global level price-hike govt’s foremost priority: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan says protecting the common man from the effects of global level price-hike is among the government’s foremost priorities.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting in Islamabad about the country’s economic situation and the global phenomenon of rising essential goods’ prices.

The Prime Minister said the government also accords foremost priority to public relief amidst global price-hike crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was told that due to the current conflicting situation, the crude oil prices in international market have surpassed 100 dollar per barrel and the prices of gas have also witnessed 3 to 5 times increase.

Besides, it was told that the prices of edibles particularly palm oil have also increased.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was also apprised of the various Ehsaas Program schemes as well as the measures to bring in further improvement in the schemes for public relief.
