AIT, Qatar Investment Authority, Onex Announce Partnership

PLANO, Texas, DOHA, Qatar, and TORONTO, Feb. 22, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AIT (the “company”), together with its founding management and Onex Corporation (“Onex”) (TSX: ONEX), today announced that Qatar Investment Authority (“QIA”), the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar, through its affiliates, has agreed to acquire a minority interest in AIT, the world’s largest provider of factory automation to the aerospace, defense, and space launch sectors. The transaction is expected to close in 2022, subject to regulatory conditions and approvals.

QIA will acquire its interest in AIT through a combination of primary capital and partial sales by the company’s two existing shareholders, AIT’s founding management team and Onex Partners IV. Following the transaction, all three parties will assume minority joint ownership of the company.

Pakistan’s policy of combating climate change effects widely acknowledged in world: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2022 in Islamabad on Tuesday on the occasion of World Scout Day.

Addressing the drive launch ceremony, he said the government's 10 billion Tree Tsunami program is aimed at protecting our future generations.

The Prime Minister urged the entire nation to actively participate in the tree plantation drive for better future of the next generations. He said every family should grow at least five plants.

He said Pakistan has been blessed with the weather conditions which are suitable for every kind of plant.

He expressed the confidence that the target of planting five hundred and forty million trees for this spring will be achieved.

The Prime Minister said unfortunately, Pakistan is among the ten countries, which are most vulnerable to climate change. He said Pakistan's policy of combating climate change effects has been widely acknowledged in the world.

Earlier, addressing the ceremony, Special Assistant on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Programme, over 1.4 billion trees have so far been planted. He expressed the confidence of achieving the target.

He said Pakistan's successful model of addressing the climate change challenges has been appreciated in the world, and various countries have expressed interest to replicate it.

Minister, Ed UNICEF discus covid-19 initiatives

A UNICEF delegation led by its Executive Director Catherine Russell met with Minister for Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Shafqat Mahmood in Islamabad today (Tuesday).

They discussed initiatives taken during Covid-19 to ensure safe school reopening, continuity of learning and to mitigate the learning losses by the ministry.

Key challenges like suffering of learning levels, increasing of dropout rate, enrolment of out of school children focusing especially on girls also came under discussion.

The both sides also exchanged views on stunted growth of the children and launching of school meal program that may help to improve children's physical as well as mental health.
