Cabinet decides to table provision of funds’ summary to ECP in Parliament

The Federal Cabinet has approved to refer the summary of the Finance Ministry to the Parliament regarding the provision of 21 billion rupees to the Election Commission of Pakistan for general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision to this effect was taken at the Cabinet meeting held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair.

The Cabinet also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives due to bomb blast at the Counter-Terrorism Department Police Station in Kabal area of Swat.

It offered Fateha for the martyrs and prayed early recovery of the injured.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Interior to include a representative of the Federal Government in the investigation of the blast. He also directed to give martyrs package to those who lost their lives in the blast.

The Federal Cabinet also accorded approval to legislation for Invest Pakistan on the recommendation of the Board of Investment. Under this legislation, an office for Invest Pakistan will be established under the Board of Investment, which will work under public-private partnership. The legislation will also help ensure the provision of investor-friendly services.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Federal Cabinet approved the appointment of Syeden Raza Zaidi a Grade 21 officer of the Inland Revenue Service as the Chairman of Karachi Port Trust on deputation basis.

The Cabinet also approved the decisions made in the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee held on 13 April 2023.

Under those decisions, approval was granted to declare Angoor Adda Customs Station in South Waziristan as Export Land Route for Afghanistan and Central Asian States.

The ECC had decided to provide financing facility to for common use of Eco-friendly electric bikes and electric rickshaws.

Under this decision, a loan of five hundred thousand rupees will be given with zero percent markup through the Prime Minister's Youth Business and Agriculture Loan Scheme. Through this initiative, the country will save a lot in terms of importing expensive fuel from abroad.
