Sindh LG by-elections: Counting of votes underway for remaining 56 seats

Counting of votes after polling in by-elections for remaining 56 seats of Local bodies in five divisions of Sindh is underway.

The polling process started at eight in the morning and continued till five in the evening without any break in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad Divisions.

For the 56 seats, there are a total 434 candidates in the run while more than 690,000 male and female voters were eligible to elect their local representatives.

FBR Terminates Services of Over 100 Employees of PRAL

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has terminated the services of more than 100 employees of Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt) Ltd including the general manager software development.

Sources told ProPakistani that PRAL has terminated the services of over 100 employees of the operations department.

These employees were providing services related to administration, and as facilitation and user support officers in one of Pakistan Customs projects.

The project has been closed so there is no need for these employees, sources added. Meanwhile, FBR has also terminated the services of GM software development.

Recently, PRAL remained in the news due to the leakage of tax details of the former Chief of Army Staff besides sanctioning inadmissible refund claims.

Sources said that PRAL has increased checks in its system so now only authorized officers can access the returns/wealth statements of taxpayers. It is pertinent to note that PRAL also terminated the services of dozens of its employees around three months back.

Naran-Kaghan road closed due to melting of glacier

The Naran-Kaghan road has been closed due to melting of glacier.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority, the road will be reopened in two to three days.

The Authority has advised tourists to contact helpline 1422 for road information. They can also update themselves through social media platforms.

Govt believes in equality with minorities as per Quaid-e-Azam’s vision: Baligh

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baleegh-ur-Rehman says the government believes in equal treatment with all minorities as per Quaid-e-Azam's vision.

He was talking to a delegation of Minority Children Leadership, led by Chairman of Pakistan Christian Council International, Senator Kamran Michael in Lahore on Sunday.

The Governor said all minority communities enjoy complete economic, political and religious freedom in Pakistan and they are playing an important role for progress of the country.

Sindh govt starts work on reconstruction of 2.2mln houses damaged in floods: Sharjeel

Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon says provincial government has started work on reconstruction of two point two million houses damaged in floods last year.

Talking to a delegation of Foreign Media Journalists Association in Karachi, he said government has introduced a cheap and comfortable transport service to people of the province.

The Minister said that provincial government is making all-out efforts for provision of best services to the people.
