ADB indicates additional support of $2.5bln in upcoming fiscal year

The Asian Development Bank has indicated to provide an additional support of 2.5 billion dollars for the next Fiscal Year, out of which 1.5 to 2 billion dollars can be available in the ongoing calendar year.

This was expressed by Country Director ADB Yong Ye during his meeting with Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Dr. Aisha Ghous Pasha in Islamabad today [Thursday].

Welcoming the ADB team, the Minister of State said Pakistan is facing various fiscal and monetary challenges but the present government is working on various structural reform measures to bring back the economy on an inclusive and sustainable growth path.

She thanked Yong Ye and his team for their dedication and assured them full support and speedy implementation of the ongoing programs.

Nestle Head of Corporate Affairs, GM call on PM Shehbaz

Nestle Head of Corporate Affairs Waqar Ahmed and General Manager Abdullah Javed called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, Nestle Pakistan commended the Prime Minister for provision of relief items to the flood affected people of Afghanistan.

Contributing its share in the Pakistan government's initiative, Nestle donated fifty thousand litres of drinking water for the flood victims of Afghanistan.

The donated water will help save the flood victims from various diseases.

The Prime Minister described this welfare work by Nestle Pakistan as appreciable.

President writes to CJP to form judicial commission for probe into regime change conspiracy

President Dr Arif Alvi has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan requesting him to form a judicial commission to conduct open hearings and thoroughly probe the allegations of regime change conspiracy.

He said the commission would help avert the political and economic crisis in the country, and keep the political powder keg from igniting.

Underlining the importance of constituting the commission, the president said a serious political crisis is looming in the country and major polarization is taking place in politics, in the wake of recent events, as well as among the people of Pakistan.

He emphasized that it is the collective duty of all institutions to make utmost efforts to avert damaging consequences to the country and prevent further deterioration.
