PM calls for unity to overcome challenges confronted by Muslim community

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says Muslim Ummah needs to work together to overcome common challenges, including poverty and unemployment.

Addressing an Iftar Dinner organized in honour of the Muslim countries' ambassadors in Islamabad on Monday night, he emphasised on resolving all issues with unity.

Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said Muslim countries are enriched with natural resources and they should help one another.

Talking about the Palestinian issue, the Prime Minister said that Israel is targeting the innocent people in Palestine, which needs ample response from Muslim Ummah.

Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said India has been committing massive human rights violations in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Kashmir issue should be resolved in lines with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions.

Expressing Pakistan's concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister urged the Muslim leaders to help people of Afghanistan in this critical juncture.

Pakistan committed to cement strategic partnership with China: Hina

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar says Pakistan is committed to further strengthen its all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China.

She was talking to Deputy Head of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Ms Pang Chunxue who called on her in Islamabad on Monday.

Hina Rabbani Khar appreciated China's long-standing support for Pakistan's fundamental issues and development.

Welcoming growing Chinese investment in special economic zones under the CPEC, the Minister of State said Pakistan is desirous of speeding up the pace of work on China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Finance Minister terms talks with IMF, WB very good

Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail says the International Monetary Fund has agreed to send its mission to Pakistan in middle of the next month for continuation of Extended Fund Facility programme.

Addressing a press conference in Washington, the minister said he and his team had very good discussion with the IMF, the World Bank and IFC.

He said the incumbent government will fulfill all sovereign commitments made by the previous governments with IMF and regarding CPEC.

The Finance Minister said Pakistan has never defaulted in last 70 years and will not default in future too. He, however, said there had been excessive budget deficits which led to increase in debts.

He said the incumbent government will try its best to reduce debts by enhancing overall GDP.

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan cannot afford to continue subsidy on petroleum products due to its economic condition.
