Internet photography, video festival collects beauty of Tibet

LHASA, China, Apr. 22, 2022 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– An internet photography and video festival with works displaying the landscape and development of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has been concluded in Lhasa, the regional capital.

The gold, silver and bronze awards of photography in the second China’s Tibet internet photography and video festival.

With the theme of “witnessing the great leap forward of beautiful and happy Tibet,” the festival aimed at showing the region’s beautiful landscape and development achievement to make the new Tibet in the New Era better known and recognized.

The award ceremony was held Wednesday, with 46 works granted prizes of different levels.

Tsering Chusang, a cadre from Tashigang Township from Gar County in the prefecture of Ngari, won the gold prize for his video work showing the life of a border patrolman.

“Tashigang is a border township in Ngari, and my work was inspired by the frontline patrollers guarding the border,” he said.

In a work that won bronze, Padma Yangjen and other students from Tibet’s Lhasa middle school respectively sang songs in not only Tibetan and Mandarin but also English, Korean and other languages.

The activity was launched in August 2021, and in the following four months, 37,000 photos and 400 videos were collected, including more than 100 works from overseas.

“These works have documented the positive changes in the Tibetan people’s daily life so that we can see the vibrant Tibet,” said Song Jing, an expert on the jury panel, also dean of photography at Beijing Film Academy.

Govt to remove names from ECL after 120 days if no evidence provided: Interior Minister

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah says the Parliamentary committee on ECL has recommended to modify rules approved by the cabinet.

Briefing newsmen in Islamabad this evening, he said as per the new approved rules, the names of the people who were included in the ECL would be withdrawn after 120 days automatically if no evidence is provided against them. The Interior Minister confirmed that there is a total of 4,863 people who are on the no-fly list and after the new rules around 3,000 people will take benefit from the new rules.

He said the people who are included in terrorist activity, or risk to the country, or included in the ECL on the directions of the courts would not be facilitated.

About the arrests from Federal Investigation Agency without evidence, Rana Sanaullah clarified that in future no one would be arrested without inquiry.

He said now the FIA will include the suspect in the inquiry first and then register the case against him.

PPP strongly believes in supremacy of law: Khursheed

Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Shah has said Imran Khan should tell people about the performance of his government instead of blaming the government for his ouster and threatening his opponents.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the present government would respond to Imran Khan by its deliverance and good governance instead of holding public gatherings.

He said the Pakistan Peoples Party strongly believes in supremacy of law and it has always worked for it.

To a question, he said the present government would use its all-out efforts to resolve the issues confronting the country and its people.

LHC asks President to nominate person for administering oath to Punjab CM

Lahore High Court has asked the President to nominate any person for administering oath to newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif during the next twenty-four hours and also disposed-off the writ petition filed by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif in this regard.

In his decision, Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Justice Ameer Bhatti stated that Punjab Governor cannot refuse to administer oath to newly elected Punjab Chief Minister.

He also directed the quarters concerned to send the copy of the court's decision to the President.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded people of tribal districts for rendering sacrificing in fight against terrorism.

Talking to tribal elders during a visit to Miranshah, North Waziristan, he thanked them for their all-out support in war against terrorism for a peaceful and stable Pakistan.

The Prime Minister assured the tribal elders that incumbent government will do all to bring comfort for local public and ensure socio economic development as dividends of our fight against terrorism.

Shehbaz Sharif said ensuring civic facilities for local community at power with rest of Pakistan is the top priority of government.

On the occasion, tribal elders assured the Prime Minister of their complete support for peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Shehbaz Sharif announced establishment of modern university in Miranshah to equip the children of North Waziristan with modern education.

He also announced establishment of medical college and Danish School in Miranshah for the students of North Waziristan.

Similarly, an emergency mobile hospital will also be established in North Waziristan, which will be equipped with all medical facilities.
