Pakistan Customs Arrests Civil Aviation Worker Involved in Smuggling of Foreign Currency

Pakistan Customs has apprehended an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) allegedly involved in the smuggling of foreign currency at Islamabad International Airport.

Sources told ProPakistani that Customs officers during their search at the international departure section at the Islamabad International airport recovered foreign as well as Pakistani currencies including 70,000 EURO, 56,000 Saudi Ryal, 8,000 UAE Dirhams, and 4,880 Pakistani rupees from CAA Contractual Employee Gul Nawaz Abbassi.

As per Pakistan Customs officials, the money was to be smuggled through two passengers, Muhammad Akram and Chaudhry Naveed who were destined to Abu Dhabi from Islamabad on PIA Flight PK 261.

Sources said that the Director-General CAA also took serious cognizance of this criminal offense committed by a CAA Contract employee and directed Airport Management to establish close coordination with the customs for a thorough, fair, and transparent investigation into the matter.

The money has been seized and the First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the culprits (Gul Nawaz as well as Passengers) by Pak Customs and the above-mentioned CAA employee, as well as passengers, shifted to ASF control room for investigation whereas Pakistan customs has also informed FIA staff deputed at IIAP.

Sources also said that CAA also terminated the contract of Gul Nawaz with an immediate and further course of actions that shall be taken in light of the investigation being conducted by Pakistan Customs.

Promotion of tourism sector top priority of Govt: Hassan Khawar

Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Spokesperson Punjab Government Hassan Khawar has said that promotion of tourism sector is the top priority of the government.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore today (Saturday), he said tourism buses will be run across the province to promote tourism.

He further said Mazdoor Cards are being provided to labourers and more Shelter Homes being established across the province.

Governor Balochistan calls for timely completion of projects

Balochistan Governor Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha has called for formulating a comprehensive strategy for timely completion all ongoing development projects in the province.

Addressing the scholarships distribution ceremony in Quetta today [Saturday], he said the government is focusing on both education and health sectors.

The Governor said scholarships will open new avenues for the students to pursue higher education.

‘Ehsaas Koi Bhooka Na Soye’ program to feed labourers, deserving families: Suri

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri has said that the aim of “Ehsaas Koye Bhooka Na Soye” program is to provide good quality food to labour class and deserving families.

He said this while talking to journalists on the occasion of distributing Food items among deserving families under Ehsaas program in Quetta on Saturday.

He said this program would be extended to other parts of Quetta to provide food to laborers.

KP Private Schools urged to ensure students’ vaccination in drive starting from Tuesday

Director-General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Services Dr. Niaz Mohammad has urged the Managing Director of the Private School Regulatory Authority to ensure vaccination of all students of private educational institutions in the drive starting from Tuesday.

In a letter sent to the MD PSRA, he urged that owners of private schools be instructed to extend full cooperation to the vaccinators in this regard. The campaign would target 9,500 private schools where 100,000 students out of 648,000 have already been immunized. He added that vaccination of students is in line with the guidelines of National Command and Operation Center to contain the spread of the virus.
