Facebook Owner Meta is Testing a New Privacy Center

Facebook’s parent company, Meta is testing new privacy features and how it updates users regarding their privacy options. Meta will soon be centralizing privacy FAQs and controls across its family of applications.

Meta’s new Privacy Center test app is currently available for some desktop users across the United States. The centralized system will soon be available for “more people and apps in the coming months”.

Beta users of the app can access the new privacy feature in the Settings and Privacy section on the desktop version of Facebook. Improved privacy controls have been categorized into Facebook’s Privacy Shortcuts and Privacy Checkup menus.

Meta’s official documentation divides the current version of the Privacy Center into five different modules: Security, Sharing, Collection, Use, and Ads.

In the past, Facebook has been known to offer difficult-to-navigate privacy controls to users, with the most important settings buried deep in menus. Despite Meta’s new privacy controls, the company is still interested in acquiring the data of its users. Meta’s recent objections to Apple’s iOS ad tracking changes that limit the ability to track user behavior across different apps have cleared Meta’s stance on the matter.

For now, Meta wishes to continue updating the Privacy Center, and add further modules and controls, pushing the idea of ‘privacy education.’ Meta further states:

As we expand Privacy Center, we will add more ways to access it in places where you may have privacy concerns.

Haris Rauf Receives Signed Jersey from Former Indian Captain

Pakistan and India may be arch-rivals both on and off the cricket field, but the cricketers from both sides of the border share a good camaraderie. Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni shared a goodwill gesture as he gifted his signed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey to Pakistan’s star right-arm pacer, Haris Rauf.

Haris, who is currently one of the most feared fast bowlers in limited-overs cricket, took to Twitter to thank MS Dhoni for his kind gesture and expressed delight at receiving the jersey from one of his favorite players.

Haris tweeted, “The legend and captain cool, MS Dhoni has honored me with this beautiful gift. The ‘number 7’ is still winning hearts through his kind and goodwill gesture”. He also tagged CSK team manager, Russell Radhakrishnan in the tweet and thanked him for the support.

Haris’ tweet has since gone viral as it garnered over 53,000 likes and 5,600 retweets as the cricketing fans from both countries appreciated the gesture and the respect between the two cricketers.

While the two cricketers have never played against each other on the same field, the two did meet during Pakistan’s victory over India in the 2021 T20 World Cup match. MS Dhoni was instated as India’s team mentor for the tournament while Haris was influential for Pakistan as they qualified for their first semi-final since 2012.

Sindh Promotes Thousands of Primary School Teachers to Higher Grades

The Government of Sindh has revoked the requirement of a B.Ed degree for all teachers at public primary schools to allow them to get promoted to the next grades.

Resultantly, more than 15,000 primary school teachers in the province will be promoted to BPS 15 and 16. Teachers who have served for 15 years will be promoted to BPS 16 and those with nine years of service will be promoted to BPS 15.

Primary school teachers have welcomed the ruling, stating that they had long demanded the requirement of the B.Ed degree to be repealed to facilitate their promotions to higher grades.

The Sindh Education and Literacy Department (SELD) had announced 40,000 job openings for primary and junior elementary school teachers in December 2020. Subsequently, 30,000 primary school teachers (PST) were inducted in the first stage and 10,000 junior elementary school teachers (JEST) are being recruited in the second phase of the hiring process.

It had also provided 37,000 job openings for primary and junior elementary school teachers in March 2021 to meet the shortage of school teachers in the province.
