ICC TV to Broadcast Pakistan vs West Indies Series

Cricket fans from every corner of the globe will now be able to watch Babar Azam’s side in action against the West Indies as the Pakistan Cricket Board enters a partnership with ICC TV.

The partnership, part of the PCB’s efforts to increase its broadcast reach, will allow fans residing in the non-broadcast partner territories (Australia, Mainland Europe, South East Asia, and the rest of the world) to watch the most successful T20I side of the year in action.

The PCB, through its strategic planning, previously signed broadcast deals with Etisalat (Middle-East and North Africa), Flow Sports (Caribbean), Sky NZ (New Zealand), Sky Sports (United Kingdom), Sony (South Asia outside Pakistan), Super Sports (Sub-Saharan Africa) and Willow TV (North America) to broadcast home international season and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) till 2023.

Fans in Pakistan can continue to live-stream all the action of the six white-ball matches on Daraz’s official app and listen to live commentary at FM106.2.

Shoaib Malik Needs One Big Innings to Overtake the Legendary West Indian in T20s

Shoaib Malik needs 93 more runs to become the second-highest run-scorer in the history of T20 cricket.

The former Pakistan captain has scored 11,233 runs in 422 innings so far. He requires 93 more runs to surpass West Indies white-ball captain, Kieron Pollard, who has 11,326 runs in 508 innings.

The top spot is occupied by another legendary West Indian, Chris Gayle, who has 14,321 runs to his name in 433 innings, thanks to 22 centuries in the shortest format. Pollard has only one T20 hundred, while Malik has never achieved the milestone.

The veteran all-rounder, who represents Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), has been having a dream run in the league. Malik has scored 100 runs in the first four innings at the LPL at an average of 100.

He was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance against the Kandy Warriors. This was the 37th such award of his career which is the most by any Asian cricketer.

Malik scored 14* in nine balls and was involved in a match-winning 43-run partnership with skipper Thisara Perera. He had also registered figures of 19/1 in his three overs with the ball.

In the previous game against Colombo Stars, the 39-year-old smashed 24-ball 44 to help his team continue its unbeaten run in the tournament.

Star-Studded Commentary Panel Announced for Pakistan vs West Indies Series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a star-studded commentary panel for the upcoming limited-overs series between Pakistan and West Indies. The panel includes the likes of West Indian commentator, Ian Bishop, and New Zealand’s Simon Doull.

Former Pakistan cricketer, Bazid Khan, alongside former Pakistan women’s captain, Sana Mir, and former West Indian wicket-keeper, Jeffrey Dujon, will also be a part of the commentary panel. Former women’s cricketer, Marina Iqbal, will also join the commentary panel for the ODI series. Up and coming Pakistani commentator, Sikander Bakht, will be the presenter in both the T20I and ODI series.

The highly-anticipated T20I series between Pakistan and West Indies is set to commence on 13 December at National Stadium Karachi. The two teams will play three matches in the T20I series with the second T20I to be played on 14 December while the final T20I will be played on 16 December.

After the conclusion of the T20I series, the teams will face off in the ODI series which is a part of the ICC World Cup Super League. The three ODIs will be played on 18, 22, and 23 December. All six matches will be played at National Stadium Karachi.

Karachi University Shuts Down Campus and Postpones Exams

The University of Karachi (KU) has postponed all examinations and suspended academic activities from Monday, 13th December, an official notification said on Sunday.

According to the notification, all academic activities and examinations scheduled for morning and evening shifts will remain suspended.

The circular issued by the KU Registrar Prof. Dr. Abdul Waheed read that the decision was made on the directives of the competent authority.

“As per the directives of the competent authority, all academic activities (morning and evening) at the University of Karachi shall remain suspended on Monday, 13th December. All examinations (morning and evening) of 13.12.2021 have [also] been postponed,” the notification said, without explaining the reason behind the move.

The new date of examinations would be announced by the respective departments later, it added.

It is pertinent to mention that the security in the provincial capital is on high alert as Pakistan host West Indies for the inaugural T20I of the home series at the National Stadium, Karachi, today.

Furthermore, several routes leading to the stadium and surrounding areas will be closed for traffic after 2 pm, the city police announced on Sunday.

The Governor briefed the Prime Minister about his visits to Turkey and Britain.

Usman Buzdar calls on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore today (Monday).

During the meeting, the chief minister gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on overall political situation in the province, administrative measures and the operation against hoarders continuing across Punjab. Besides, he apprised Imran Khan about the overall law and order situation in the province and measures to improve governance.

Appreciating the measures taken by the Punjab Government, the Prime Minister instructed for further improvement.

Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal, Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan, and Punjab Chief Minister's Principle Secretary Amir Jan also attended the meeting.
