PM Highlights Innovation in Education as Government’s Top Priority


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that integrating innovation into the education system and equipping the nation’s youth with professional skills remain among the government’s foremost priorities. He shared these insights during a meeting with a delegation from Arizona State University, led by Doug Becker, Founder and Chairman of Cintana Education, in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stressed the necessity of modern technology to elevate Pakistan’s education standards to meet international benchmarks. He highlighted that government policies are directed towards creating employment opportunities for young people, rooted in their professional competencies. The collaboration with Arizona State University to establish the National Institute of Technology marks a significant milestone for the country, aimed at preparing youth to thrive in a globally competitive environment.



The Prime Minister also outlined recent reforms introduced in the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) over the past year. These changes have enhanced the commission’s effectiveness and efficiency. He instructed NAVTTC to partner with Arizona State University to foster innovation in vocational training.



The meeting further addressed the operationalization of the newly constructed National Institute of Technology in Pakistan, developed with the support of Arizona State University. Doug Becker affirmed Arizona State University’s commitment to providing resources and facilities to innovate Pakistan’s education sector.



During the event, the Prime Minister unveiled the commemorative plaque of the National Institute of Technology. Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and senior officials from relevant departments were present at the meeting.
