Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed gratitude to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for his endorsement of the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Foreign Office released a statement highlighting Pakistan’s agreement with the Secretary-General’s view that this development is a positive step towards fostering an environment conducive to lasting peace and stability in South Asia.
In this context, Pakistan reiterated the importance of a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. This resolution, in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is deemed essential for the realization of enduring peace in the region.
The Foreign Office emphasized the significance Pakistan places on the United Nations’ role in promoting peace and regional stability. Pakistan remains committed to engaging in constructive and result-oriented dialogue, aligned with the principles of the UN Charter and international law, aiming to ensure peace, security, and development for the peoples of South Asia.
