Pakistan Committed to Work Closely with EU: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has affirmed Pakistan's commitment to working closely with the European Union on mutually beneficial trade enhancement initiatives, particularly through the GSP Plus scheme. This statement was made during a meeting with EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis, who visited the Prime Minister in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan's dedication to strengthening cooperation with the EU in various areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, development, security, migration, and climate change. The discussion underscored the critical role of the GSP Plus scheme in fostering trade between Pakistan and the EU.

Prime Minister Sharif also highlighted his satisfaction with the 7th round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels last year, led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on the Pakistan side. The dialogue was seen as a positive step toward enhancing bilateral relations.

EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis expressed gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome he received in Pakistan. He assured the Prime Minister of his commitment to further strengthening relations between Pakistan and the EU across all areas. The Ambassador also conveyed good wishes from the EU leadership and emphasized the EU's intention to continue engaging closely with Pakistan on trade enhancement. This includes the upcoming EU-Pakistan Business Forum, scheduled to take place in April, aimed at promoting trade relations under the GSP Plus framework.
