Pakistan Calls Upon India to Comply with Int’l Legal Obligations

Dhaka: Pakistan has called upon India to change its behaviour and comply with its international legal obligations. In response to remarks of the Indian delegate at the High-Level Open Debate of the UN Security Council on ‘Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes’, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Usman Jadoon, said India is in illegal occupation of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Radio Pakistan, Usman Jadoon stated that India has been in violation of Security Council resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and has refused to implement those resolutions, thereby denying the Kashmiri people the exercise of their inalienable right to self-determination.

Usman Jadoon further accused India of actively sponsoring, aiding, and abetting terrorism in Pakistan and beyond. He criticized India’s actions, stating that the country has stooped to a new low by unilaterally and illegally holding in abeyance the Indus Waters Treaty with the stated aim of depriving the people of Pakistan of water from the Indus river system.
