Islamabad: Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, including trade, investment, and culture. This resolve was expressed during a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to Radio Pakistan, the conversation took place on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Azha, where both leaders exchanged greetings. They also prayed for peace and the safety of innocent Palestinians in Gaza amidst ongoing tensions in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Malaysia for its support and balanced stance during the Pakistan-India crisis, emphasizing the need for de-escalation and dialogue. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, highlighting the country’s decision to respond decisively to India’s military actions while accepting a ceasefire understanding brokered by the U.S. and other friendly nations for the sake of regional security.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan is prepared to engage in dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, including the contentious Jammu and Kashmir matter. This position was further emphasized in a separate telephonic conversation with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, where the Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s dedication to peace and security in the region.
During the conversation with President Rahmon, Shehbaz Sharif thanked Tajikistan for its balanced position during the Pakistan-India crisis and its call for peace and dialogue. President Rahmon commended Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and security, and the two leaders exchanged Eid greetings.
