Heavy Rains Forecast for KP, AJK, and Punjab from Saturday

Islamabad: Heavy rains are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab from Saturday to Tuesday.

According to Radio Pakistan, increased water flow is expected in the Kabul River at Nowshera, which may result in flooding in its tributaries, streams, and nullahs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is also a possibility of a low-level flood due to the rising water inflow at the Tarbela Dam.

The bursting of glacial lakes in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa poses a risk of flooding in low-lying areas. In Punjab, urban flooding is anticipated in Lahore, Sialkot, and Narowal, with increased water flow expected due to hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.

Water flow is predicted to rise in the seasonal nullahs of Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, and Narowal, including Aik, Dek, Baien, Basantar, and Palkhu. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has urged citizens to avoid weak structures, mud walls, electric poles, and billboards during rain and strong winds.

Citizens are advised that visibility may be reduced during storms and gales, which can lead to accidents. Real-time alerts and preparedness guidelines can be obtained by downloading the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App and following NDMA’s official communication channels.
