ECC Approves Key Public Sector Financing Measures

Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has approved key public sector financing measures. The ECC, which convened in Islamabad with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presiding, made significant decisions regarding financial allocations and guarantees for public sector projects.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ECC approved the release of a Technical Supplementary Grant in favor of Pakistan Television Corporation for the current financial year. This decision includes a quarterly fund release amounting to 3.25 billion rupees, facilitating PTVC in covering its operational and essential running expenses.

Additionally, the Committee sanctioned the issuance of Sovereign Guarantees totaling 27.62 billion rupees for the Sialkot (Sambrial)-Kharian Motorway (M-12) Project. This project, set to be constructed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis, will also see a rollover of an already issued Operational VGF amounting to 6.944 billion rupees. These guarantees are intended to assist the Concessionaire in reaching financial closure for the Public-Private Partnership project, aligning with the approved new financing structure.
