Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has called for unity among all religious and political parties. Addressing a ceremony in Lahore today, he emphasized the readiness of religious scholars to play their role in ensuring the country’s security. Ashrafi acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces in the war against terrorism.
According to Radio Pakistan, Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi announced the launch of a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting the principles of Khilafat-e-Rashida. He expressed his support for a recent declaration by Afghan religious scholars and stressed that it is the responsibility of the Afghan government to ensure its effective implementation.
