Corps Commander Balochistan visits Sikh Gurdwara in Quetta

Corps Commander Balochistan Corps, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan visited Sikh Gurdwara in Quetta. The Sikh community presented him with their traditional chadar, saropa. The Corps Commander went to the Gurdwara and offered Ardas (prayer). On the occasion, personalities from different religions expressed their ideas to promote inter-religious harmony. In his address, the Corps Commander said that inter-faith harmony, tolerance and brotherhood are very important for the development and prosperity of our country. He said we should respect each other's religious beliefs and promote social harmony. During the ceremony, langar was distributed and all participants took part in it, setting an example of unity and harmony. Monsoon rains expected to start in July

Monsoon rains are likely to start from the next month. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, heavy and light rains are expected in different parts of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, in the first week of the upcoming month. Moderate to very heavy rains may increase the water flows in local nullahs, streams, and rivers causing flash flooding in vulnerable areas. The monsoon rains may trigger hill torrents in vulnerable areas of Dera Ismail Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur along with Suleman and Kirthar Ranges. Besides, there may be urban flooding in vulnerable areas across the country. The rains may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galiyat, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In light of increased temperatures and forecasted rain spell in Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the flows of rivers and streams are expected to increase and there is a higher probability of GLOF event t riggering in vulnerable and at-risk valleys. The NDMA further said that dust and wind-thunderstorms as well as heavy falls may cause damage to loose structures such as electrical poles, solar panels, hoardings, tall trees, and under-construction buildings. Citizens, especially travelers and tourists are advised to remain updated regarding the anticipated weather, flood conditions, potential hazards, precautionary measures, and recommended alternative routes to regulate their travel and safe journey. UN Public Service Day observed

The United Nations Public Service Day was observed today. The Day was celebrated to highlight the contribution of public service in the development process; recognize the work of public servants, and encourage young people to pursue careers in the public sector. In this connection, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in a special message said the provincial government is performing its responsibilities with passion for public service. The Chief Minister reiterated government's commitment to improve public service to facilitate the public. Measures being taken to improve education system: CM Maryam

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz says expertise in IT and Artificial Intelligence will help the younger generation to gain employment and financial independence. She was talking to a delegation of IT institutions of Allied, Tech Valley and Google for Education in Lahore today. Maryam Nawaz said measures are being taken to improve the education system through ascertaining its shortcomings and weaknesses. She informed about Punjab Government's IT sector initiatives to the delegation. During the meeting, it was decided that Chrome Box assembly will be established in Punjab. Besides, free Google ID will be provided to fifty thousand students in government schools of the province while free digital certification courses will be launched for one thousand school teachers. Efforts afoot to promote eco-friendly energy production

Under the Clean and Green Energy mission of Special Investment Facilitation Council, efforts are underway to promote eco-friendly energy production through hydro and solar power. In this connection, the Saudi Fund for Development has offered 101 million dollars for a hydropower project in Azad Jammu and Kashmir which will add 70 megawatts of electricity in the national grid. A GW3 solar panel plant has been installed in Karachi by a US company, which will not only help in manufacturing of solar panels and electric vehicles. The World Bank has also approved a 150 million dollar project of clean energy in Pakistan.
