PM attends funeral, burial of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral and burial of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas near Chunian today. The martyred captain was laid to rest with full military honors who embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Lakki Marwat along six brave jawans. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and high up military officials and a large number of local people also participated in funeral prayer. Prime Minister laid floral wreath over Shaheed' grave and offered fateha. While expressing condolences with Shaheed' parents, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to the unprecedented sacrifices being rendered by brave armed forces while fighting against terrorism. He said that sacrifices by armed forces for country and nation will never go in waste. The Prime Minister also announced to name the village with Captain Faraz Ilyas's name to honor his sacrifice. Senate passes motion for formation of standing, functional committees

The Senate today passed a motion for the formation of standing and functional committees of the house. The motion moved by Sherry Rehman also authorized the Chairman to make changes in the composition of the committees. Taking the floor, Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz said that the process of constitution of the committees of the house be completed at the earliest. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said they will extend full cooperation in this regard. Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has said the federal government is discouraging the use of plastic bottles. Speaking on a motion moved by Mohsin Aziz in the Senate today, he said Single Use Plastic Prohibition Regulations have been adopted under which small plastic bottles will be phased out in four years' time. He said responsibility also rests with the public at large to voluntarily participate in environment friendly practices. In response to a motion moved by Dr Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said despite limited resources, the federal government is taking steps to cope with the challenge of climate change. He said a pilot project of fifty seven million dollars under Recharge Pakistan is being initiated to utilize the floodwater. He said climate resilient seeds are also being introduced to save the agriculture sector from the impacts of climate change. The Senate today passed a resolution recommending the government to take immediate steps for allocation of special funds under PSDPs to construct the new rail line and necessary infrastructure in Balochistan. The resolution moved by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri said it is important to connect and enable all districts of the province to benefit from development projects in the province. Nine bills were laid before the house today. These included: Pakistan Penal Code Amendment Bill 2024, Islamabad Nature Conservation and Wildlife Management Bill, Prevention of Smuggling of migrants Amendment Bill, the ICT Rights of Persons with Disability Amendment Bill, the Code of Criminal Pro cedure Amendment Bill, 2024, the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Amendment Bill, the Constitution Amendment Bill 2024, The Muslim Family Laws Amendment Bill and Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Amendment Bill. PM vows to wipe out scourge of terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and citizens are a debt on us that we must repay, relentlessly eliminating terrorism from our nation. In a statement on social media platform X today, the Prime Minister said he is deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Pak Army personnel including a Captain in a targeted attack in Lakki Marwat district. Govt gives conditional permission to export 150,000 metric tons of sugar: Tanveer

Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain says the government has given conditional permission to export one hundred and fifty thousand metric tons of sugar. Chairing sugar advisory board meeting in Islamabad, he said availability of sugar stock and price stability will be ensured. He said ex-mill price of sugar will not be increased under any circumstances. The Federal Minister said all pending payments to farmers will be made on priority basis. He said Sugar Advisory Board will reassess sugar prices and market stability in fortnight. He said future sugar export option will depend on price stability and stock availability in the country. Pakistan Railways earned over Rs70b till May

Pakistan Railways has earned over seventy billion rupees till last month despite financial crisis due to floods of 2022. According to Official sources, the department is expecting to generate up to eighty billion rupees revenues by end of this financial year. Sukkur-Karachi Motorway Project Targets Accelerated Completion

Karachi, Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has announced that the government is actively seeking solutions to accelerate the completion of the Sukkur-Karachi Motorway. This effort was communicated during a session in the Upper House of Parliament.

According to Zameen.Com, Mian Riaz Pirzada emphasized the critical need for improved connectivity in the densely populated and agriculturally vital regions of Sindh. The project had faced delays due to economic setbacks spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the primary contractor to suspend operations. The government's strategy to fast-track this project involves potential collaborations under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and partnerships with countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada also called on the committee to closely monitor the project's advancement, reaffirming the government's pledge to complete the motorway within the next six months.
