World Environment Day is being observed today. This year, the theme of the day is "Land restoration, stopping desertification and building drought resilience". World Environment Day puts a global spotlight on the pressing environmental challenges of our times. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme and held annually on 5th June since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. NDMA conducts national simulation exercises focusing on monsoon preparedness

National Disaster Management Authority conducted multi hazards National Level Simulation Exercises in Islamabad today. The purpose of conducting multi-hazard mock exercises is to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of provincial disaster management agencies to deal with emergency like situation such as flooding and road blockage in upcoming monsoon. AIIB agrees to promote cooperation with Pakistan

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has agreed to promote cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of poverty reduction, climate change, financing instruments, and the advancement of SDGs. The affirmation was made by Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Ludger Schuknecht during a meeting with Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema in Islamabad today. The Minister for Economic Affairs commended AIIB's crucial role in delivering assistance to Pakistan, especially during the 2022 floods, and briefed him on the country's improving economic outlook. Ahad Cheema appreciated AIIB's favorable consideration of new project proposals from Pakistan in the infrastructure sector and expressed hope for continued collaboration in funding and implementing vital projects. In a post on his X handle, the Prime Minister referred to his participation in China Pakistan Business Forum in Shenzhen saying he highlighted bilateral trade and investment potential especially in key sectors including transfer of Chinese technology, industry and partnership in IT, agriculture, mining, steel, textiles and renewable energy.
