IMDC, FDE unite to elevate education, health standards for future generations

Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IMDC) and the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, have signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) aimed at improving the quality of secondary education in FDE-administered schools. The agreement to this effect was signed by CEO IMDC Yasir Khan Niazi and DG FDE Tanwir Ahmed. The agreement focuses on addressing missing facilities, providing training, building capacity, and leveraging digital learning techniques to enhance educational standards. The Letter of Understanding outlines several key areas where IMDC will support FDE, particularly in primary schools. These include the provision of clean drinking water, training and capacity building for teaching staff, student scholarships, and the upgrading of science labs and libraries. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and improve knowledge access for less privileged students. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Dr. Khur shid Ahmad, Project Director of IMDC and Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary Federal Education and Professional Training, as well as Ammara Nasim and Sajad Khan and other management personnel. Pak, Greece pledge cooperation on issues of mutual interest

Pakistan and Greece have agreed to work together on all issues of mutual interest. The understanding to this effect came at the fourth Round of Pakistan-Greece Bilateral Political Consultations at Athens in Greece today. Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan led the Pakistan delegation while Greek side was led by Director General for Political Arfairs Ambassador Roussos Koundouros. Pakistan reaffirms support to principles of UN peacekeeping

Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering support to the principles of the UN peacekeeping with the pledge to continue its contributions towards maintenance of international peace and security. In a statement on 'International Day of UN Peacekeepers', the Foreign Office said Pakistan is proud of the contribution of its women peacekeepers, and remains committed to enhancing their role in UN peacekeeping arena. Over 500 Pakistani women peacekeepers have served in various UN missions, earning many laurels and distinctions in the process. Pakistan was also one of the first countries to achieve the UN's deployment goal of 15 percent female staff officers. Pakistani peacekeepers, both men and women, have been at the forefront of international efforts for over six decades to end conflicts and restore order across many regions of the world. Over 235,000 Pakistani UN peacekeepers have served with distinction in 48 UN peacekeeping missions, with Pakistan consistently retaining the position of one of the top troop-con tributing countries at the UN. So far, 181 Pakistani peacekeepers have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, protecting civilians and upholding the UN peacekeeping mandates in the process. The Foreign Office said Pakistan continues to play its role in helping adapt the UN peacekeeping operations to contemporary challenges, including through African Union-led Peace Support Operations. Pakistan brings a unique perspective to UN peacekeeping, not only as a leading TCC, but also as the host to one of the oldest peacekeeping missions in the world - the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). Pakistan committed to preserve Buddhists heritage: Deputy PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar says Pakistan is committed to preserve Buddhists heritage and encourage joint efforts to protect historical sites. Addressing the ceremony in Islamabad today, he said that Pakistan is a proud custodian of several significant Buddhist sites located in Gandhara, Taxila, Swat valley and Takht Bhai. The Deputy Prime Minister said these sites were once the thriving centers of Buddhists scholarships which attracted the monks and played a pivotal role in the dissemination of Buddhist teachings across Asia. He called for building stronger bond of friendship with predominantly Buddhists states by fostering cultural exchange programme, religious tourism and educational collaborations. Ishaq Dar also urged to take joint stand against the forces of intolerance, violence and hatred and emphasized to establish a joint forum in this regard. Source: Radio Pakistan

Ahsan Iqbal receives award from Asian Productivity Organization

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal received an award from the Asian Productivity Organization in Kuala Lumpur today for his outstanding contribution to socio-economic development efforts through policy, strategic thinking, effective leadership and management. The awarded was given to the Minister on the occasion of the 66th meeting of the Governing Body of the Asian Productivity Organization. Ahsan Iqbal was awarded for his achievements during all his tenures as a Federal Minister. The Planning Minister implemented innovative projects to increase productivity in Pakistan through international networks.
