PM Shehbaz leaves for UAE on day-long visit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left on a day-long visit to the United Arab Emirates. This is Prime Minister's first visit to the UAE since taking charge of his office. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold one-on-one meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss further strengthening of Pak-UAE bilateral ties. He will also meet Pakistani and UAE businessmen and investors associated with Information Technology sector, besides meeting the top government officials and businessmen of the UAE. The Prime Minister's visit marks the beginning of a new era of the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. His meetings with the top Emirati leadership and business community reflect the government's diplomatic achievements and growing interest of friendly countries to invest in Pakistan. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Interio r Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are also accompanying the Prime Minister. WAPDA Chairman highlights role of Hydro Power in climate mitigation

The hydro power projects contribute to the strategic goals of mitigating climate change and generating green energy besides socio-economic development of the people. This was told by Chairman WAPDA Sajjad Ghani during a meeting with the a delegation of Asian Development Bank Alternate Executive Directors in Lahore today. Terming ADB a valuable partner, the Chairman, said that WAPDA has immensely benefitted from the Bank's support. The Chairman suggested that ADB may upscale its engagements with WAPDA from medium to large and then to strategic projects. The delegation was told that Wapda plans to improve the ratio of low-cost hydel electricity in the National Grid from existing 29 percent to 40 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2050. Shehbaz Sharif, Emomali Rahmon discuss ways to strengthen Pak-Tajik ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the memorial ceremony held in the honour of late Iranian President Syed Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran. They discussed ways to strengthen Pak-Tajik bilateral ties. Govt committed to protect human rights: Law Minister

Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar met Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon in Islamabad today. They discussed matters pertaining to Human Rights Commission and policies regarding minorities. The Minister said government is committed to protect and uphold human rights. He said national development is topmost priority of the government. Azam Nazeer Tarar said both opposition and government are integral part of the democratic system. Pakistan, Qatar to enhance bilateral relations

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the memorial ceremony held in the honour of late Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran. Matters of bilateral interest and other issues were discussed during the meeting. The two leaders agreed to further enhance cooperation in various sectors. PM greets followers of Buddhism on Vesak

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm greetings to the followers of Buddhism across the world on the occasion of Vesak being celebrated today. In a message on his X handle, he called for celebrating the shared heritage and continue working towards mutual respect and understanding. The Prime Minister prayed that may this Day bring peace, prosperity and harmony to all. Vesak Day also known as Vesakha, Buddha Purnima or Buddha Day, is a major festival of followers of Buddhism which marks the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.
