PM, Punjab Governor discuss country’s political situation


Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore today.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended congratulations to the Punjab Governor on assuming office and conveyed best wishes for his tenure.

They discussed various matters pertaining to Punjab, and overall national and political situation of the country.

‘Pak Embassy addressing students’ issues in Bishkek’


Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic, Hassan Zaigham has said that the Pakistan’s Embassy is actively working to address the issues faced by Pakistani nationals following the recent mob violence in Bishkek.

He said this in a video statement regarding the current situation of Pakistani students in the Kyrgyz Republic and the measures undertaken by the Pakistani Embassy to support them.

He said that the Pakistan Mission in Bishkek has responded to over five hundred phone calls received on emergency telephone numbers so far.

The Ambassador noted that certain local extremist elements have targeted hostels and private residences of international students in Bishkek.

According to the Kyrgyz government, fourteen foreigners have sustained injuries in the mob violence.

Hassan Zaigham informed that a Pakistani student named Shahzaib is presently receiving treatment at Kyrgyz National Hospital and is considered to be out of danger.

Kyrgyz authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, and a few
suspects have also been apprehended.

Ambassador Hassan Zaigham urged the Pakistani community in Kyrgyzstan to refrain from believing fake news circulating on social media platforms.

He emphasized that Pakistani nationals in Kyrgyzstan and their families should promptly contact Pakistan’s Embassy in case of any emergency, utilizing the phone numbers provided on the social media accounts and website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistanis in Bishkek asked to stay indoors amid mob riots


The Embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan has advised the Pakistani students to stay indoors amidst mob violence taking place outside the student hostels in Capital Bishkek.

Ambassador of Pakistan in Bishkek Hasan Zaigham assured that the embassy is liaising with the local law enforcement authorities to ensure safety of the Pakistani students.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit on the instruction of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

Pakistani nationals in the Kyrgyz Republic and their families may contact the unit at 0519203108 and 0519203094. The Crisis Management Unit may also be contacted via email [email protected].

Deputy PM, Kashmir Affairs Minister to leave for Bishkek tomorrow


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to send Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam will also travel to Kyrgyzstan along with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Both the ministers will depart for Bishkek tomorrow morning via a special aircraft.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will hold meetings with senior government officials in Bishkek and ensure provision of medical facilities to the injured students.

They will also review matters related to the repatriation of Pakistani students.

The Prime Minister has been monitoring the situation throughout the day today and remained in contact with the Pakistani Ambassador in Bishkek.

Despite the situation being under control, it has been decided to send this delegation to Bishkek to ensure necessary cooperation and facilitation for Pakistani students.

President lauds Major Babar Khan Shaheed’s patriotism


President Asif Ali Zardari paid a visit to the residence of Major Babar Khan Shaheed in Mianwali today.

Major Babar Khan Shaheed was martyred during an intelligence-based operation against terrorists in Zhob district of Balochistan.

The President offered fateha for Major Babar Khan Shaheed and prayed for the high ranks of the martyr, and for grant of fortitude to his family members.

He expressed deep reverence for Major Babar Khan Shaheed, acknowledging his sacrifice in service to the nation.

Asif Ali Zardari lauded Major Babar Khan Shaheed for his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the homeland, his dedication to duty, and his exemplary patriotism.
