Lahore Receives Record-Breaking Pre-Monsoon Rainfall

In a remarkable weather event, Lahore, the capital city of Punjab province in Pakistan, experienced record-breaking torrential rainfall before the onset of the monsoon season.

The latest data from a private weather forecasting company reveals that Laxmi Chowk received an unprecedented 256 mm of pre-monsoon rain.

This surpassed the previous record of 98 mm, which was set on 29th June 2011, and stands as the highest amount of rainfall ever recorded in the provincial capital.

The heavy downpour was not limited to Laxmi Chowk alone, as several other areas across the city also experienced significant rainfall.

The intense rainfall posed several difficulties for the city’s infrastructure and daily life. The excess water led to severe waterlogging on roads, resulting in traffic congestion and disrupted transportation.

Low-lying areas and residential colonies were particularly affected, with many of them being submerged, causing inconvenience and distress to residents. The overflowing drains and sewage systems exacerbated the situation, posing health hazards and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.

Lightning kills 10 in Punjab

Ten people were killed and 6 injured in various lightning incidents in Sialkot, Sheikhupura and Narowal districts of Punjab.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of precious human lives due to lightning strikes in different areas of Punjab.

He ordered the best medical facilities for the injured persons.

Dust, thunderstorm with rain expected in most parts of country: PMD

Isolated heavy falls with isolated hail storm is expected in Northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

However, dust and thunderstorm with rain is expected in upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, Pothohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and east Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad and Muzafarabad twenty-two degree centigrade, Lahore and Quetta twenty-four, Karachi thirty, Peshawar twenty-three, Gilgit twenty-five and Murree fifteen degree centigrade.

According to weather forecast of Met Office for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather with chances of rain-thunderstorm and isolated heavy falls is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Barmula.

Srinagar, Baramula and Anantnag twenty degree centigrade, Jammu twenty-six, Leh fourteen, Pulwama nineteen, and Shopian eighteen degree centigrade.

Future development of country in hands of educated youth: KP Governor

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali says the future development of the country is in the hands of the educated youth.

Addressing the first convocation of APS martyrs University of Technology in Nowshera on Monday, he urged the youth to take responsibility of working for their families and taking the country out of crises.

He stressed upon the youth to focus on their morality along with academic excellence.

The Governor said he is making efforts to facilitate all the universities of the province.

Mohsin Naqvi directs to remain alert for next 24 hours due to heavy rains

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has directed the provincial administration, PDMA, Rescue 1122 and WASA to remain alert for next 24 hours due to heavy rains in various cities of the province.

He also advised the concerned officers to be present in the field and the drainage system should be ensured by necessary machinery within stipulated time.

The CM said negligence in drainage work will not be tolerated and also directed special arrangements for the flow of traffic during rainy season.
