Zenas BioPharma Appoints Simon Lowry, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Lowry brings over 20 years of broad clinical expertise in the design and execution of early to late-stage clinical programs to Zenas, where he will lead the company’s global clinical, medical affairs, and pharmacovigilance functions.

Dr. Lowry is a medical doctor with 20 years of experience at large and emerging pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies directing successful development programs, leading clinical and medical affairs teams, and interacting with regulatory agencies across multiple areas of medicine, including rheumatology, immunology, and ophthalmology. Prior to joining Zenas, Dr. Lowry was Chief Medical Officer at Kinevant Science, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on treating rare inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Lowry was previously Head of Immunology R&D at Roivant Sciences, leading all development stage immunology assets into clinical development, and served as a key member of the leadership team. He also served as Chief Medical Officer at Sun Pharma North America, where he was responsible for four branded therapeutic areas (Immunology & Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Neurology and Oncology), and led all aspects of development and medical functions (including clinical development, medical information, field medical, HEOR, publications / medical communications, and operations). Early in his career, he worked at Novartis, where he served as Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Franchise Head, Immunology & Dermatology, and Pfizer, where he served in roles of increasing responsibility, including as Vice President, Oncology Medical Affairs Group Leader.

Prior to his pharmaceutical/ biotechnology career, Dr. Lowry practiced internal medicine at various institutions in the UK and Australia. He received his BA from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, UK and his MB BChir medical degree from Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine.

Asia Cup: President, PM appreciate performance of Naseem Shah

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have appreciated the fast bowler and tail-ender Naseem Shah for his superb performance in the final moments of a nail-biting match between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the Asia Cricket Cup.

In a tweet, the President said Green Shirts brought smiles on faces of the nation despite the worries of floods.

The President also appreciated the improved performance of the Afghan team.

In his tweet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the talent of young cricketer Naseem Shah for such an amazing finish in the match.

NA body condemns malicious media campaign regarding recent visit of Parliamentary Delegation

National Assembly's Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has strongly condemned the malicious media campaign regarding the recent visit of the Parliamentary Delegation led by the speaker to Canada for the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary conference.

At its meeting in Islamabad, the committee directed the Chairman PEMRA to appear in the next meeting, seeking a report of the TV channels running the media campaign.

Khursheed Shah urges developed nations to help flood-stricken people of Pakistan

Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Shah has urged the developed nations to come forward and help the flood-stricken people of Pakistan.

Talking to PTV, he said climate change fund should be utilized for the flood affected people of Pakistan.

He said flood affectees of Sindh have less resource to purchase tents for shelter purpose, however, provincial government is taking all possible measures to address their issues.

In reply to a question about UN support for flood-hit people, he said that UN high officials would visit Sindh to have assessment after the floods.

Pakistan committed to promote inter-sectarian, inter-religious harmony: Masood

Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Masood Khan has said Pakistan is committed to promoting inter-sectarian and inter-religious harmony.

Talking to a US-based religious scholars delegation in Washington, he said our diversity is our strength that needs to be respected, protected and promoted.

The delegation apprised the Ambassador about their efforts to complement ongoing relief and rescue activities for the flood affectees of Pakistan.

The Ambassador assured them of every possible support from the Embassy in their efforts to promote inter-faith harmony.

Pakistan seeks UNICEF’s help in reopening, upgrading schools in flood-devastated areas

Pakistan has urged the United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF, for help in re-opening schools in flood-devastated areas of the country.

Speaking at board’s meeting, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram also sought assistance in healthcare-prevention of water-borne and communicable diseases and immunization of children with the view to provide relief.

The Pakistani envoy expressed hope that UNICEF together with the government will not only provide emergency supplies but also contribute actively for rehabilitation of millions of children.
