PM directs to ensure protection of people from heavy rainfall

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed provincial governments and National Disaster Management Authority to ensure protection of people from the heavy rainfall across the country.

In a statement, the Prime Minister said every effort should be made to protect the people and prevent losses as much as possible. He directed NDMA to work with provincial governments and PDMAs for this purpose.

Shehbaz Sharif asked the authorities to immediately shift the stranded people to safer places. He also directed to provide temporary shelter and food to the affected people. He directed that medical teams should be mobilized for emergency medical aid and take measures for timely prevention of epidemic in the rain-hit areas.

The Prime Minister also expressed grief over loss of lives in Karachi and other parts of the country due to the rain.

He directed the NDMA to assist the provincial government to protect and rescue the affected people in Sindh.

The Prime Minister assured that the government will use all resources for the protection and assistance of the people.

PM vows to strengthen cooperation with Kuwait in diverse fields

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed resolve to strengthen cooperation with Kuwait in diverse fields of mutual interest, in particular trade and investment.

He was talking to Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on telephone today (Monday).

The Prime Minister extended warms greetings to the leadership, government and people of Kuwait on the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister, while reciprocating the warm Eid greetings, extended best wishes to the government and people of Pakistan on this auspicious occasion.

The Prime Minister thanked the leadership and people of Kuwait for taking good care of Pakistani community in the country.

Pakistan and Kuwait enjoy cordial and brotherly relations, rooted deep in common faith, shared history and commonality of interests.

Ten billion afforestation project achieves over 1.9b plantation target

The federal Ministry of Climate Change has achieved the plantation target of sowing and re-growing over 1.9 billion plants this year, under Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Plantation project.

This flagship project was initiated in 2018 with the vision to implement the largest ever plantation target in the country to restore its depleting forests, revive green cover, and improve natural resources.

An official of the Ministry told APP that the plants were planted across the country with equal contribution of the federal and provincial governments.

He said the plantation in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir was fully funded by the federal government.
