World Day to combat Desertification and Drought was observed today. The theme for this year's day was "United for Land. Our Legacy. Our Future". The day highlighted future role of land stewardship in ensuring the stability and prosperity of billions of people around the world. In her message on the day, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam said Pakistan stands at a critical juncture in its fight against desertification and land degradation. She said Pakistan is committed to combating desertification and achieving land degradation neutrality through targeted policies, investments in research and technology and fostering international cooperation. She said government is taking all-out measures to engage local communities, development partners, and civil society organisations for their role in deal with the threat of desertification.
