Water level may rise in Sutlej, PDMA issues threat alert

Punjab Disaster Management Authority has issued another flood warning and possibility of increase in water level in River Sutlej during last 24 hours.

In an alert, Director General PDMA Imran Qureshi has instructed the administration of the districts adjacent to the Sutlej to remain alert.

Rescue 1122 has also been directed to remain on high alert and ensure sufficient emergency response personnel and equipment during the period.

Meanwhile, Rescue and relief activities are in full swing in Multan and Bahawalpur divisions in the wake of flood situation in river-bed areas of Sutlej River.

In Multan division, several localities of low lying areas of Burewala,Mailsi, Kehror Pacca,Lodhran and Jalal Pur Pirwala have inundated in flood water.

In Bahawalpur division, population from vulnerable areas is being shifted to safer paces and relief camps have been established in Bahawalnagar district.

According to PDMA, Sulemanki Headworks will attain very high level of flood today.
