Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vows to Protect National Interests, Ensure Maritime Safety


Wuhan: The launching ceremony of the second Hangor Class submarine, PNS/M SHUSHUK (Desig), was held at Shuangliu Base, Wuhan in China. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, attended the event as the Chief Guest and emphasized the significance of maritime security in the current geo-strategic environment of the region. He reiterated the Pakistan Navy’s dedication to safeguarding national interests and ensuring a secure maritime environment for all.



According to Radio Pakistan, Vice Admiral Bilgrami highlighted that the Hangor Class submarines, with their advanced weapons and sensors, are crucial for maintaining the balance of power and maritime order in the region. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and emphasized that the Hangor Class Submarine Project will further strengthen the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship.



The Government of Pakistan had previously signed an agreement with CSOC to acquire eight Hangor Class submarines during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pakistan. As part of the contract, four submarines will be constructed in China, while the remaining four will be built in Pakistan under the Transfer of Technology program.
