Uninterrupted Power and Gas Supply During Ramazan Sehr and Iftar Announced

Islamabad: The government has announced uninterrupted electricity and gas supply during Sehr and Iftar timings across the country during the holy month of Ramazan. The announcement was made by Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, at a news conference in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Awais Leghari stated that the decision was made under the special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to facilitate people across the country. The Power Division and the Petroleum Division, after a detailed review of the situation, have finalized arrangements to ensure that no power and gas outages occur during Sehri and Iftar timings anywhere in the country.

The Minister explained that the government has decided to maintain electricity supply, even in high-loss or technically sensitive areas, during these hours. In the event of any major technical fault, immediate action will be taken to restore power supply to prevent any inconvenience.

Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari also mentioned that a special control room has been established to monitor the situation and oversee all electricity feeders nationwide. Consumers are advised to lodge complaints on helpline number 118 if they experience any difficulties with electricity supply, with assurances that complaints will be addressed promptly.

Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik added that the government has made comprehensive arrangements in consultation with gas pipeline companies to ensure gas supply at maximum pressure from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Additional gas volumes have been arranged, based on lessons from the previous winter, to enhance supply reliability.

Dedicated monitoring control rooms have been set up at the head offices of both gas companies. Regional offices have been directed to ensure strict monitoring, particularly in tail-end areas of the distribution network, to guarantee uninterrupted gas supply. Ali Pervaiz Malik noted that consumers can report issues regarding gas supply on helpline number 1199.
