Uninterrupted Gas Supply to Domestic Sector Ensured, Says Petroleum Minister

Islamabad: Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, has announced that uninterrupted gas supply with optimum pressure is being maintained for the domestic sector during cooking hours. Responding to a query during the Question Hour in the National Assembly, he specified that Sui Companies are ensuring gas availability to their customers from five in the morning to ten p.m.

According to Radio Pakistan, Malik informed the assembly that twelve LNG cargoes have been incorporated into the supply chain, enhancing the system with RLNG and ensuring sufficient gas volumes for all sectors. He also mentioned the establishment of a complaint filing and resolution dashboard to address consumer grievances efficiently.

In response to another question, Parliamentary Secretary for Communications Gul Asghar Khan highlighted that all National Highway Authority road projects adhere to international standards. He stated that highway pavements are designed with a ten-year life expectancy, and bridges and tunnels with fifty years. Khan noted that the M-10 Motorway feasibility study is nearing completion and will be developed through a Public-Private-Partnership. The M-9, Karachi-Hyderabad link, will continue as an expressway.

Furthermore, the National Assembly approved 'The Transfer of Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2025', introduced by Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. Additionally, four new bills were presented, including amendments concerning private educational institutions, the use of national emblems, cannabis regulation, and archival material preservation. These were referred to the respective Standing Committees.

The assembly also extended the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council Ordinance, 2025 for another one hundred and twenty days, starting from the 23rd of this month. Moreover, 'The Export Development Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2026' and 'The National Tariff Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026' were passed.

Addressing a calling attention notice, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal assured that the Foreign Office provides comprehensive assistance and support to Pakistani citizens abroad, with special facilitation desks established to address issues faced by Overseas Pakistanis.

Finally, Leader of the Opposition Mehmood Khan Achakzai, in his maiden speech, pledged support to strengthen the Parliament. He emphasized the importance of unity for national progress and development, asserting that all policies should be formulated by the Parliament.
