Sargodha: At least 14 people were killed when a Mazda fell into a dry canal due to poor visibility caused by dense fog near the Gulpur Bangla area of Tehsil Kot Momin in District Sargodha. According to rescue officials, 23 people were traveling in the truck to attend a funeral when the vehicle went off the road and overturned into the canal. Seven people died on the spot, while seven others succumbed to their injuries at THQ Hospital. Eleven people were injured in the accident, three of whom are in critical condition.
According to Radio Pakistan, in Balochistan, at least ten people died and forty-five were injured in a bus accident in Hudd Goth area near Gwadar. Pakistan Army and Navy troops immediately launched rescue operations after the incident. The injured passengers are being given immediate first aid. Pakistan Army troops have shifted the bodies of the deceased and the seriously injured passengers to PNS Darman Jah Hospital in Ormara through the ambulances of Pakistan Navy and Rescue 1122. An emergency has also been imposed at Pakistan Navy Hospital PNS Darman Jah Hospital at Jinnah Naval Base. Seriously injured passengers are being shifted to Karachi via Pakistan Navy ATR. After the rescue operations, the Pakistan Army has opened the road for traffic from both sides.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in tragic traffic accidents in Sargodha and Ormara. In their separate statements, they offered condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The President said changing weather conditions are an undeniable reality and exercising caution while traveling is essential. He stressed that safeguarding human lives is the state's foremost priority and instructed provincial governments to enhance public awareness on safe driving. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to provide best treatment facilities to those injured in these accidents. He also instructed the authorities to ensure the implementation of traffic laws and safety measures on national highways.
