Two-Day NDMA-UN Disaster Preparedness Drills Conclude in Islamabad


Islamabad: Two-day mock exercises by NDMA and UN agencies to deal with potential disasters concluded at NDMA headquarters, Islamabad today.



According to Radio Pakistan, the exercises aimed at further improving the efficiency and capacity of relevant institutions to deal with disasters at the national level. Over 130 representatives of federal and provincial ministries and departments, district administrations, and relevant institutions participated in the exercises.



Practical exercises were conducted on scenarios involving earthquakes, monsoon flooding, flash floods, and severe cold conditions. These exercises are expected to improve coordination between federal, provincial, and other institutions, which is crucial for effective disaster response.



Such initiatives will facilitate the formulation of a joint response through NDMA’s strategy and planning. The NDMA will continue to take necessary measures to deal with disasters, mitigate risks, and enhance the capacity of the institutions.
