Tribal Jirga Voices Support for Displaced Families in Tirah

Peshawar: The tribal elders of a significant Jirga addressing the Tirah issue have expressed full solidarity and support for all families affected and temporarily displaced. The Jirga, organized by the Bara Political Alliance, saw its agenda presented by the former Chairman, Haji Shireen Afridi.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Jirga participants vocally supported peace and highlighted that the plight of Tirah's victims is a national issue, not limited to any single region or tribe. They emphasized that any delay in addressing the displaced people's problems is unacceptable.

The elders criticized the provincial government's handling of funds allocated for Tirah victims, citing incompetence and corruption. They demanded the immediate restoration of peace in Tirah Valley and insisted on a clear promise of sustainable peace in the future.

The Jirga leaders called for an end to ongoing violence, including firing, shelling, mortar attacks, and drone activities by the Khawarij, as these have instilled fear among citizens. They also demanded the dignified return of Tirah's displaced families and insisted that all promises made to them be honored both in writing and action.

Furthermore, the elders urged for the immediate settlement of outstanding balances for the victims' vehicles, warning of a protest procession to Peshawar if payments are not made. They called for an impartial investigation into political interference, nepotism, and corruption in the registration process of Tirah victims, with appropriate actions against those responsible.
