Kohat: Three police personnel, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tehsil Lachi Asad Mehmood, were martyred while four others were injured when terrorists opened fire on a police van in the Shakardara area of district Kohat.
According to Radio Pakistan, the District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat confirmed that the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Kohat. A search operation has been launched in the area to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack.
President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the attack on the police vehicle by the Fitna-ul-Kharij terrorists. In a statement, he paid tribute to DSP Asad Mahmood and other officials who were martyred in the attack. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred officials, emphasizing that the scourge of foreign-backed terrorism is being eradicated from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also condemned the terrorist attack. In his statement, he paid tribute to Shaheed DSP Asad Mahmood and other personnel who embraced martyrdom. The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the family members of the martyred officers and reiterated the government's resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi have also condemned the attack. In their separate statements, they paid tribute to the police personnel who were martyred in the incident.
