Tarar Regrets Campaign Linking Pakistan to Sydney Incident

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has condemned and expressed deep regret over the disinformation campaign launched by certain media outlets to link Pakistan with a recent incident in Sydney. Speaking to foreign media in Islamabad, he stated that the campaign, originating from India, was deliberately designed to malign Pakistan. He emphasized that it is deeply unfortunate to target a country that has been a frontline state in the fight against terrorism and has made immense sacrifices in this regard.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister urged media outlets to act responsibly and assign blame appropriately. He commended the Australian authorities for their professional approach in investigating the matter, noting that they refrained from making any baseless accusations.

Tarar revealed that the attacker involved in the Sydney incident was from India and traveled on an Indian passport. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance for peace and its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Information Minister also highlighted India’s involvement in transnational assassination plots, including the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada. He pointed to irrefutable evidence of Indian-sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan, citing India’s funding of terrorists and their connection to attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tarar criticized the promotion of extremism in India.
