Istanbul: The third day of ongoing talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban in Istanbul have encountered significant challenges.

According to Radio Pakistan, the logical and rational demands presented by Pakistan are deemed valid. However, the Afghan Taliban delegation has shown reluctance in fully accepting these demands.

The sources further mentioned that the host countries also recognize the reasonableness and legitimacy of Pakistan’s demands. Interestingly, the Afghan Taliban delegation acknowledges that accepting these demands is justified. Despite this, the Afghan Taliban delegation continues to seek guidance from the Kabul administration and appears to be operating under its directives.

The Pakistani delegation has repeatedly asserted that accepting these demands is in the best interest of all parties involved. The host countries have also communicated this to the Afghan delegation. Nonetheless, the lack of a positive response from the Kabul administration has resulted in a deadlock.

It appears that certain elements in Kabul may be pursuing a different agenda. However, the Pakistani delegation maintains that its stance is logical, strong, and indispensable for achieving peace.

On the third day, discussions between the two sides extended for eighteen hours, during which the Afghan Taliban delegation repeatedly agreed to Pakistan’s logical and legitimate demand for taking decisive action against the Khwarij, TTP, and terrorism. Sources indicated that illogical and illegitimate advice received from Kabul during the talks is contributing to the inconclusiveness of these discussions.

Despite the challenges, Pakistan and the host countries are committed to resolving these complex issues with wisdom and seriousness. According to sources, a final effort is underway to resolve the issue through logic and dialogue, despite the Taliban’s intransigence, as the negotiations move towards their final phase.
