Successful Implementation of CPEC to Help Entire Region: President


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China, stating that their cooperation through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is poised to benefit the entire region. In an interview with China Global Television Network’s program “World Today,” he highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations.



According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari described CPEC as a significant component of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative, underscoring its potential to enhance regional connectivity and progress. He reflected on his recent visit to China as a goodwill mission and noted the warmth and hospitality he received from the Chinese people.



The President highlighted the expanding partnership between Pakistan and China in various sectors such as agriculture, energy, railways, education, health, and tourism. He pointed out that Pakistan aims to achieve agricultural self-sufficiency by leveraging China’s expertise in water conservation, modern irrigation, and renewable energy.



President Zardari expressed admiration for China’s advanced train system and conveyed Pakistan’s interest in adopting similar technologies for its railway sector. He emphasized the strategic importance of Pakistani ports, which are the closest to China, and their potential to create employment opportunities.



Energy cooperation was another focal point, with joint projects underway to generate electricity through solar and renewable sources. President Zardari stressed the importance of increasing bilateral efforts in hydropower generation, labeling water as the “fuel of the future.”



He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s stance on global platforms and reiterated the country’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect for sovereignty in international relations.
