Solidarity Walk in Islamabad Highlights Support for Kashmiri People


Islamabad: A walk was taken out from the foreign office in Islamabad today in connection with Black Day to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. People belonging to different walks of life including officers of various ministries including Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference participated in the walk.



According to Radio Pakistan, the participants carried banners and posters with slogans condemning Indian atrocities and expressing support for the Kashmiri people. Pakistani and Kashmiri flags were also prominently displayed during the walk. Addressing the participants of the walk at D-Chowk, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam paid glowing tributes to the valour and resolve of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said India has failed to suppress the voice of Kashmiri people. He said about one hundred thousand Kashmiri people have embraced martyrdom in IIOJK while the prisons of occupying forces are filled with Kashmiri youth.



The Minister for Kashmir Affairs stated that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and emphasized that Pakistan has always raised its voice for the Kashmiri people and will continue to do so in the future. He further underlined the importance of resolving the Kashmir dispute for regional peace and stability.



In his remarks on the occasion, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon urged India to end its occupation of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has forcefully presented the case of Kashmiri people at the United Nations forum.



Leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Farooq Rehmani called upon India to withdraw its forces from the occupied territory. He reiterated the desire of the Kashmiri people to determine their own future and urged the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions that recognize their right to self-determination.



Meanwhile, one-minute silence was observed at ten a.m. to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and their legitimate struggle against illegal Indian occupation.
