Islamabad: The Senate today resumed discussions on incidents of terrorism in the country, with particular focus on the terrorist attack on a mosque in the Tarlai area of Islamabad last Friday. Lawmakers strongly condemned the killing of innocent people and called for national unity to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, senators emphasized the need to set aside political differences and develop a consensus-based strategy to effectively combat terrorism. The discussion saw participation from several senators, including Bilal Ahmed Khan, Afnanullah Khan, Dost Muhammad Khan, Syed Waqar Mehdi, Hafiz Abdul Karim, Fawzia Arshad, Nasir Mahmood, Mashal Yousufzai, Khalida Ateeb, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Humayun Mohmand, Aimal Wali Khan, Jam Saifullah Khan, Kamil Ali Agha, and Nadeem Ahmad Bhutto.
Meanwhile, the Senate today passed five bills. These include 'The Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers) Bill, 2025', 'The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023', 'The Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (Amendment) Bill, 2024', 'The Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Bill, 2024', and 'The Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2024.'
Additionally, 'The City University Islamabad Bill, 2026' and 'The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2026' were introduced in the House. The Chair referred these introduced bills to the Standing Committees concerned.
