Senate Passes Resolution Reaffirming Support for IIOJK

Islamabad: The Senate today unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination. The resolution was moved by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution paid tributes to the valour, resolve, and sacrifices of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The house emphasized that unilateral and illegal change of the disputed and constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be a substitute for the exercise of the right of self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The resolution strongly denounced human rights violations in IIOJK and demanded that India improve the human rights situation in the occupied territory, release all political prisoners, and cancel all draconian laws. It underscored that resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people is imperative for peace in South Asia. The resolution demanded that India implement the Security Council resolutions so that the Kashmiri people could determine their future through a fair and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the UN.

The Senate was informed that the Drug Regulatory Authority has undertaken measures to ensure rapid legal action against manufacturers and distributors of spurious and substandard medicines. Minister of State for National Health Services Mukhtar Ahmad Malik told the house that a National Task Force has been established to detect substandard and spurious medicines and ensure compliance with approved manufacturing quality standards. He mentioned that drug inspectors regularly monitor the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines.

Mukhtar Ahmad Malik also informed the house that Pakistan is working with China to enhance its agricultural yield, expressing confidence that the results will be visible in the next two to three years. Responding to points from the leader of the Opposition, Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sana Ullah Khan criticized the past record of PTI, mentioning attacks on state institutions on 9th May and stating that those who break the law will face accountability.
