Senate Continuing Discussion on Budget for Next Financial Year


Islamabad: The Senate is continuing discussion on the budget for the next financial year. Participating in the discussion, various members proposed measures aimed at improving sectors such as education, health, and renewable energy.



According to Radio Pakistan, Kamran Murtaza proposed that youth should be trained in market-oriented skills, emphasizing the need for the budget to include measures to uplift the living standards of poor people. Mohsin Aziz echoed this sentiment by calling for more relief for the poor in health and education sectors. Sadia Abbassi suggested incentivizing people to convert to green energy instead of increasing tax on solar panels, while Syed Waqar Mehdi advocated for increasing pensions of retired employees of Radio Pakistan, APP, and PTV.



Wali-ud-Din Chishti called for increasing budgetary allocations for projects in Hyderabad and Karachi. Zameer Hussain Ghumro suggested the withdrawal of tax on solar panels and expressed concern over the insufficient budgetary allocation for the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project. Aimal Wali Khan highlighted the need for special focus on health and education by allocating significant funds to these sectors.



In the agriculture sector, Aon Abbas emphasized the importance of prioritizing it and urged the government to take effective measures to reduce fertilizer prices. Bilal Ahmed Khan proposed increasing salaries and pensions by up to seventy percent. Asad Qasim recommended enhancing the PSDP allocations for Balochistan to improve facilities in the province. Abdul Shakoor Khan suggested that more funds should be allocated to technical institutions for providing free education to poor boys and girls.



Khalida Ateeb called for more funds for local government expenditures to improve water and sanitation facilities in Sindh, especially Karachi. Nadeem Bhutto emphasized the importance of agriculture and climate change and demanded special focus on the repair and maintenance of railway tracks in Sindh. Zeeshan Khanzada underscored that the rule of law is inevitable for the political and economic stability of the country.
